Seminars in High Schools

Scientists from the CFP Unit offer talks for high school students given in their own institutes. These talks deal with fundamental experimental and observational physics, and are directly related to our field of research.

We are involved in international scientific projects at the forefront of Physics to deepen the mysteries of nature: we study LHC collisions to characterize the newly discovered Higgs boson and search for other new particles; we participate in distributed scientific computation projects related to LHC (Grid); in other experiments we investigate the properties of neutrinos, elusive subatomic particles; we conduct observations to unravel the mysteries of the expansion of the universe, dark matter and dark energy; and we are involved in international scientific projects at the forefront of physics to delve into the mysteries of nature: we study LHC collisions to characterize the newly discovered Higgs boson and search for other new particles; we participate in distributed scientific computation projects related to LHC (Grid); in other experiments we investigate the properties of neutrinos, elusive subatomic particles; we conduct observations to unravel the mysteries of the expansion of the universe, dark matter and dark energy; we investigate the evolution of stars (supernovae and black holes); we even conduct experiments to determine the origin and composition of cosmic rays, trying to find the dark matter and lost antimatter of the universe, both on the International Space Station and in observatories on Earth.

Previous editions

Our Unit coordinated and managed this programme since 2010 in collaboration with the CPAN.

During the 2019/2020 and 2020/2021 academic years, our cycle of seminars was expanded to the CIEMAT Talks Cycle, during which we managed and offered talks related not only to our lines of activity, but to the entire center.

Additionally, during the 2020/2021 academic year we launched a pilot program, the CIEMAT Talks for FP centers.
